Between the outback South Australian towns of Marree and Marla, there is an expansive 620 km (385 mi) of unsealed road known as the Oodnadatta Track. The track passes through the Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park’s southern lake, as well as William Creek and Oodnadatta. Those who decide to venture along this amazing journey will be following in the footsteps of traditional Indigenous ancestors, as this is one of their trading routes, but the Oodnadatta Track is now so much more than just a dirt road!

With absolutely stunning scenery of the semi-desert region, Oodnadatta Track offers a true taste of the Aussie outback and is considered one of the best outback drives in the country. Imbued with an amazing history and cultural heritage, as well as giving access to a number of natural wonders, the colourful and ever-varying landscape along the route ensures that no visit will be the same as the last. The Oodnadatta Track’s primary features – Lake Eyre, the artesian ‘mound’ spring belt and the quaint towns along the way – all offer a truly uniquely Australian experience to those visiting. The best way to visit the Oodnadatta Track is on a group tour, as this ensures safety and guarantees you’ll see the best of the area in air-conditioned comfort. Just make sure to bring your camera, as the views you’ll experience along this iconic trail are certainly worth saving!
